How to Choose a Netbook
Whether you want a satellite machine that is easy to handle or you just want to be able to check your email and to surf the Internet while you are on the go, you will find that the netbook might be your best option. A netbook is essentially a small computer that has limited capabilities, and you will find that getting the right one can be instrumental to how functional it is for you. When you are in the market for a netbook, there are a few things that you need to think about.
The first thing that you should consider is the operating system. At the moment, netbooks are available in Windows and Linux, and both have their strengths and their weaknesses. For instance, a netbook with Windows loaded on it will be instinctively easier for most people to use, while a netbook with Linux will be less expensive but more complex. Consider your experience with both operating systems and what you can do to get the results that you are most interested in.
You will also need to think about whether you want a spinning hard drive or a solid state hard drive, with the latter often being abbreviated to SSD. A solid state hard drive, while more expensive, will operate without a sound, will create less heat after prolonged use and it will run more effectively. The downside is that it does tend to be a little more expensive, though many people feel that it is worth it because a solid state drive is more durable and can withstand the bumps that occur with a device that is transported often.
Consider how large you want your netbook to be. Some people find that they are relatively pleased with a netbook that has only a seven inch screen, while other people find that they are more interested in a screen that is upwards of ten inches. The most common sizes range between 8.9 inches and 10 inches.
Also consider how long you need the battery to last. The range is quite wide and you will find getting a range between four and eight hours is fairly standard. Keep in mind that the battery life is not going to be precisely what was stated on the box and this is why you need to look into reviews as well.
Find the testimonials that talk about the netbooks that you are considering and see what people have to say. Do they feel as though it is a good machine and that is reliable? What kind of features does it come with? There are so many different options out there that it can be dizzying, so use the resources that are available to you!
Getting the right netbook does not have to be hard, so take a moment and see what your needs might be.
